In July 2026, Leonard R. Stamm joined Scrofano Law PC as “Of Counsel.” In this role, he will continue to review cases, provide advice and training to the firm’s lawyers and to public defenders, and update his treatise, Maryland DUI Law. Scrofano Law PC has a great group of skilled and experienced criminal defense attorneys across three offices–Rockville, DC, and Fairfax.
The lawyers in Rockville include Paolo Gnocchi, who started his career as a prosecutor in Baltimore City and has aggressively defended individuals charged with a crime and under investigation across Maryland for the last two decades and Associate Attorney Michelle LaTorre.
The firm’s Fairfax office has over 55 years of collective experience defending criminal cases in Virginia. Gretchen Taylor Pousson is a former Assistant Federal Public defender and former Assistant Commonwealth Attorney with over 30 years of experience practicing Virginia criminal law. Matthew Kensky is a dedicated criminal defense attorney who started his career as a public defender in Fairfax County and has spent his entire 25-plus-year legal career as a defense attorney in Northern Virginia. He teaches the annual appellate roundup CLE to fellow Virginia criminal and traffic defense lawyers.
Joseph Scrofano, the firm’s founder, and Jason Kalafat round out the DC office. Jason has been practicing for over 20 years as a dedicated criminal defense attorney, serving as both a public defender and private defense attorney. The whole team is dedicated to zealous advocacy and protecting the rights of the firm’s clients. Every lawyer in the firm has completed the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Test Certification.
Scrofano Law PC is one of the few firms that handle criminal and DUI defense across Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia. The firm handles a wide variety of matters, including serious felonies, investigations, DUI/DWI defense, federal criminal defense as well as drug and gun cases and domestic violence matters.
